Meet Mrs. PeriJana’ Paris’ Sumrall, wife, mother of 4 beautiful breastfed children, Founder, CEO, Breastfeeding Counselor, Advocate, and newly accredited Certified Lactation Consultant of Lacta Mommy LLC! Here’s her inspirational story.

“Becoming a mommy is one of the most precious, heart-warming, life-changing experiences a mother could have. Bringing life into this world makes us want the absolute best for our babies, giving them the very best. Even with the foods to nourish them. Breastfeeding is one of them for me. Giving life to my firstborn, I decided I wanted to do motherhood my ancestor’s way and exclusively breastfeed my baby. Unfortunately, with the lack of lactation support and lack of self-knowledge about healthy lactation, I experienced difficulties.

 

At that moment, I knew the next step I was determined to take to have a successful breastfeeding journey. I began to read and educate myself on proper latching techniques, baby’s hunger cues, pumping, and a healthy diet with nutritional foods to help boost my milk supply. By the time my second child was born, I was breastfeeding like a pro! Now, because it is my passion, I have dedicated myself to helping hundreds, if not thousands, of mothers with their breastfeeding journey.

In 2018, Paris Sumrall opened Lacta Mommy LLC with a mission to help, support and make a positive impact on the mother-child dyad and how mother’s view the natural process of giving birth and the beauty of breastfeeding. Her inspiration to start a Private Practice specializing in Lactation Support stems from many encounters with new and previous moms who too was having a difficult breastfeeding journey and targeting the audience of new moms especially amongst melanated mothers and families due to the low numbered statistics. Working alongside other essential members of the healthcare team like Certified Midwives and Doula’s, Sumrall is dedicated to increasing the number of breastfeeding mothers amongst the melanated community, providing free education and support, making a significant difference in the lives of many.

Sumrall has served her field for 5+ years as a breastfeeding counselor and advocate, providing compassionate care, evidence-based education, and safe techniques for mothers and babies to follow for a beautiful breastfeeding outcome. Completing the first half of her schooling to becoming an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, she expressed her excitement about traveling the world to make a positive change when it comes to the mother-child dyad and educating mothers and families about the importance of breastfeeding in today’s society. We are just as excited to share this great news!
